UK Veg Gardeners

We haven't had any rain for a while and the ground is starting to crack on my allotment.  I decided to remedy this by soaking each row of veg with bucketfuls of water rather than dribbling with a watering can.  It isn't that anything was dying, it just isn't growing much.  I have plenty of water saved in various containers, dustbins, butts, buckets - whatever I could fill when we last had rain.  It's certainly coming in useful now

Funnily enough, I did the same on Tuesday evening! I can usually water when a friend kindly drops a hosepipe down from her bathroom taps, 4 floors to the ground, but she's been away so I'd run out, even in the water butt (aka dustbin).  She's back now, so the veg got a good soaking last night and the butt refilled.  Off we go again!  Phew!
