UK Veg Gardeners

Is May the "Queen of Months" or just a vindictive and bitter old witch?  My view? Don't trust her!

May can be very variable, and include hard overnight frosts, so I agree about not being trusting!

She lulls you into a false sense of security - the amount of people I know caught out by her frosts over the years...

 

One guy lost all his runner bean crop once (field full) from a frost that struck on 31st May one year!!

 

I wouldnt trust May! :-)

Well I have spent the afternoon dancing round the maypole in our local orchard, crowning the queen of the may and making garlands, singing folk songs etc, so it had better be good!

Glad of some rain at last, but it makes the weeds grow as well as the taties.
