Exactly 1 month to midsummers day and the temperature in Eastbourne today is 7c can anybody beat that? apart from the broad beans all my other plants on the plot are bewildered.
I'm back to my winter woolies not quite long johns but almost. I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling the cold; I would think I were ill otherwise. I have gone back to digging for keeping warm while exercicing in the garden; no kneeling and weeding for me but deep digging of the new levelled formal garden parts. Please leave your prayers for me to empty the prayer wheel barrow when it is full, in St James' yard.... you know! Santiago (St James) de Compostela, (of the compost heap)
David, it's not just plants that are bewildered, every gardener I talk to is asking the same thing...what the heck is going on?
The way things are going I'll be lucky to get a crop of onions or potatoes this year and I really don't fancy living on lettuce leaves through the winter!
I have had to get my winter sweaters back out of storage - it is ridiculous. It doesn't bode well for the veg garden does it - possibly another year for disastrous results. Sigh.
the bitter wind is spinning the prayer wheel barrow for Colin and Elaine, and David of course. (it is worse in Eastbourne, but this is a north wind not an easterly)
It is depressing. It seems a considerable time since we had a really good summer, what with last year's rain, and now the cold, and i've just heard on Classic FM that the Met Office are predicting a cold, wet summer. It's intolerable, someone should be held responsible!
Sw is best at 17*c today
