I take it that you are growing all that lot, in that method, to eventualy sort thru' for your exhibition spuds. Looks like an expensive project ?

Hi Fred, that's sort of the idea. Whether it happens like that I'm not so sure

I found that I suffer with my back following a car crash a couple of years ago and digging spuds the conventional way is just back breaking, so I grow my spuds like this for ease as much as for exhibition

Every variety I am growing is a good eater with the exception of Winston which is bloody horrible but I am not doing so many of them for this reason

Similar to Colins reasons, whats the cost of the growing medium, I am thinking about growing exhibition spuds next year?

I used Medwyn's mix this year and it worked out about £6 each for 75L bag

It's good stuff and a number of showers had great success last year winning a couple of National Shows. However, it is an expensive way of doing it but save an awful lot of time.

I may do it again next year depending on what success I have this year.

It would be cheaper to buy the peat and mix separately but it is a lot of work to sieve it all and mix the fertiliser in
