Rotten Beetroot
I sowed some beetroot seed in one of those self-watering troughs. Another disaster - the compost was absolutely sodden and the beetroots rotted - big mistake.

Oh poor you. It's not too late to resow, Elaine. In the veg patch's first year, we sowed beetroot in August and still had a harvest before the year was out - and you know it's going to be an Indian summer... !

Ha ha - I'll believe that when I see it! But I will re-sow the beetroot just not in the darned containers.
