Hello, having just joined you as a refugee from another gardening site that disappeared, thought I'd try my hand at writing a blog. So pay attention, and try not to fall asleep!
Having got the post Chrismas ice and snow out of the way, (for now at least), last weekend gave the greenhouse a thorough clean out ready for all the plants that will soon be filling it with verdant growth, I hope. The usual crops are:- Tomatoes - my favourite, growing mainly heritage type, although my favourite cherry is 'Sungold' F1, Chillis - with which I'm experimenting with seed saving, Sweet peppers - mainly Romano types, and Basil - which i grow loads of to make pesto, which we freeze to last us over winter. This season I'm going to try tomatillo, as i like to try one or two new things each year.
Outside, in the cold windswept (at the moment) garden, there are still quite a few leeks remaining, although some got leek rust, it didn't harm them too much. The garlic is generally doing ok, but the autumn onion sets I planted have come up , but some crafty critter is having sneaky nibbles of them when I'm not looking, as I think it' s a bit cool for slugs, suspect it might be our feathered friends ( Make a note to reduce their peanut ration),
That's all for now (You at the back - wake up!), will write more at a later date, hope you haven't been too bored.
