The outdoor tomatoes (Sungold) have finally started going bananas. They didn't get caught by blight but have been very slow in coming to fruition. They have finally started to ripen and I am picking a punnetful every day. Guess I am going to have to get my act together and start doing something with them. As they are a gold colour they don't look very good being turned into tomato sauce - reckon I'll have to put my thinking cap on.
Comment by Caro on September 17, 2012 at 14:09 I have a "Cherriettes of Fire" tomato bush which is covered in tiny green fruit. It's a late starter, having grown itself and then been transplanted into a pot by me. I'm hoping for lots of baby fruit if we have a few more warm days, then lots of tomatoes on toast - yum! Could you oven dry yours or bottle them in oil? Lovely to have the taste of home grown in the winter months if that could work.
Comment by elaine rickett on September 17, 2012 at 14:19 Ah bottling in oil sounds good and maybe a bit of oven drying too, good ideas. Of course there's no substitute for cherry tomatoes fried in butter on toast and I shall be indulging in plenty of that as well.
