Grow your own... and stop wasting food.

Probably most of you understand the importance of growing your own. After reading the article in the Guardian about more than half of the food in the world being wasted there is only one solution, more people should grow their own right?

It would be great if more people could grow their own but I don't think it will happen unless they are faced with no other choice, ie. grow your own or starve. Both of my immediate neighbours have large gardens but neither of them grow any food. One even has a large apple tree and every year the crop falls to the ground. The crazy thing about that family is that they claim to eat healthily and  buy 'organic' food whenever they can. Make sense of that!!

Hi Colin, sorry for the very late reply (had a bad case of the flu). I really do not understand people like your neighbours. My neighbour has a lot of land but a small veg plot which she loves. She has little time to grow more because of her job and raising 4 boys! but at least she is growing something. She tells me she calms down when she is in the garden and forgets stress, work and family issues. I wish people like your neighbours would understand that not only do you get the best tasting vegetables there are but gardening is so good for the mind and the body.
