The Gardeners Delight tomatoes that I planted outside have finally bitten the dust - they have been absolutely rubbish this year - there were lots of tiny green fruits on them which have no chance of ripening now - so I have pulled them all out and cut all the toms off in the hope of them ripening in the greenhouse. The only ones I have left now are half a dozen Sungold plants which haven't been affected by blight and are fruiting like crazy. What a funny old year this has been
Comment by Colin Robinson on September 18, 2012 at 23:07 I had Maskotka growing outside until the blight got them a couple of weeks ago. Picked all the unripe fruit and left them in the greenhouse where they are ripening nicely. Still have a few assorted plants under glass but they're almost finished. Previous years I've still had fresh toms in November from the greenhouse.
Comment by elaine rickett on September 19, 2012 at 7:08 Same here Colin - I only have a few greenhouse tomatoes left to ripen so those plants will be chopped down soon - they've not done too bad though - I have been able to make plenty of sauce with them and have loads frozen.
