Light frost early this morning, one side of my runner beans have been hit.Giant marrow plant realy bad chopped it all up and added to compost heap. Some foliage damage to Dahlias not enough to worry about yet.A badger is visiting our allotments regular now,the damage is unbelievable,90 plot holders and everyone has now lost the reamainder of their sweet corn.,paths dug up and carrots. The entire perimiter of the site is fenced,we have formed a work party to dig down 2ft and add pig fencing in the hope it will deter the badgers from digging under the existing fence. On a good note my brassica frame is almost complete, will cover the frame with debris netting, top will be left open until just before  planting incase it snows.

Had our first slight frost night before last but not enough to do any damage. It's usually well into October before we get sub zero temps here as we're by the sea.

Aren't you well ahead with your winter work.  Very wise to leave the roof netting off.  I've seen metal poles bent by the weight of snow.  First Edinburgh frost was Friday night.

Malagrowther have a heart problem so I need to make an early start in order to be ready for next season,by December all veg that will freeze will be in my freezers. My big cultivator was getting a bit too heavy for me so bought the new 4stroke Mantis,so far it seems ideal can pick it up and carry eith one hand
