Comment by Colin Robinson on July 10, 2012 at 22:43 As you live in south Cumbria I hope you are going to make some damson jam!!
We have no fancy gear and just boil everything up in a big old pan and use recycled glass jars. You can buy spare tops on ebay so as long as you don't break the jars they can be re-used for years.

Comment by chocolatelikesnow on July 10, 2012 at 22:51 Hello fellow Cumbrian! I was planning to make damson jam, but using damson's gathered in Kent (lots around where my in-laws live). I can't think of any bushes locally, but have probably walked past some every day without spotting them! I did think a special pan just for jam was a bit unnecessary, so am pleased to hear of your success with a humble pan :)
