What a glorious weekend!!
We spent both days at the allotment, preparing the beds for the season ahead.
Started to clear the 'forgotten' area of the lottie to make way for potatoes, when Dan uncovered a slow worm nest. A mummy & 3 babies deep down in the soil. I had always thought they liked it somewhere warm like a compost heap - being cold blooded. But they were deep under the soil. Most strange.
Dug up the last of the parsnips. Hopefully they will taste okay, probably destined for the soup pot.
Planted another 50 onion sets - Centurion F1.
Also planted 5 raspberry canes - autumn bliss.
Dan re-modelled the compost heap, using wooden pallets. He devised a removable slated front for easy use.
The boys made a mud swamp - Ru fell over and it turned into a mini Glastonbury Festival. Rolling around in mud and loosing wellies.
