I used to find in some growing seasons various problems caused by poor air circulation would occur with my runner beans. The dense foliage on a double row of beans cuts out air and light, lots of pods were missed and many were funny shaped through contact with all the growth. With a bit of thought over came this by leaning my support canes outwards instead of crossing at the top.Good results now have long straight beans good enough to show.no tangled foliage and any sign of black is soon spotted and dealt with. The wooden posts fit into metapost supportseasy to move each year and prevents post rotting
