I recently planted out my cabbage seedlings at the allotment and I've been watering them frequently ever since due to the lovely hot weather and my fast drying sanding soil. But this year I've chosen a new variety that I hope will not look out of place when compared to my allotment neighbours ...

Comment by Colin Robinson on June 1, 2012 at 22:27: I space mine much closer than that and harvest alternate ones as spring greens. This is because I have a limited space and have to cram in as much as possible. I've also been feeding them on diluted urine this year which has really boosted growth. The first ones I planted out are hearting up nicely and are almost ready for picking.
