I space mine much closer than that and harvest alternate ones as spring greens.  This is because I have a limited space and have to cram in as much as possible. I've also been feeding them on diluted urine this year which has really boosted growth. The first ones I planted out are hearting up nicely and are almost ready for picking.

I have only used diluted urine in my compost heap. Do you use JUST urine or add some other liquid feed too,Colin?
