A long time ago - way back in the 70's - I used to sit in a stuffy old office shuffling paper about daydreaming that one day I would be able to be outside in the fresh air all day tending my garden and growing my own food. Not being reliant on the supermarket to provide everything for my survival. Then when I moved here and the opportunity came to buy a piece of land I jumped at it and started living the dream. I may not have wealth and riches in the normal sense of the word, but I do have immense satisfaction with what I am doing.
These thoughts occurred to me this morning when I was up early planting peas before the day gets too hot - I thought - this is just as I imagined it to be - and for me, there could be no better way to spend my days.
Okay that's it - sentimental drivel over.
Comment by Caro on May 23, 2012 at 12:49 Elaine, You've added a smile to my day - those are sentiments that are hard to beat and immensely satisfying to be in the fresh air rather than an office (especially when the sun is shining).
Comment by Flighty on May 23, 2012 at 16:20 Hardly sentimental drivel, and I agree with Caro. You're not only lucky to have done what you have but to recognise it's true value.
I used to dream the same, now I have got it I can't imaging how I could cope without it !
Comment by Catherine on May 23, 2012 at 20:52 I always did want to work from home, so when I lost my job last year to the recession, even though I miss the money, I am fulfilling another dream of mine now by full time gardening at home. We hardly ever buy veggies now ;)
Comment by Colin Robinson on May 23, 2012 at 22:34 It's good innit. I don't have a lot of land, just a good-sized garden but it's enough for me and allows me to produce the majority of the fruit and veg we use in the house. Although I'm not new to gardening I find that now that I can devote most of my time to it I'm learning so much about how the real world works. Not the one with politicians and generals but the one with plants and animals and insects.

I like and agree with your sentiment !
