Comment by Fred Hogg on April 16, 2012 at 11:32 Your onions are looking good. I reckon they will be show standard. Don't forget the super phosthate dressing on the bed and possibly lime.
Comment by Darren Blick on April 16, 2012 at 19:15 I was thinking of using Osmocote
I used just Q4 last year but this Osmocote which I have never used before, is slow releasing high potash with some nitrogen also
Comment by Debbie on April 16, 2012 at 21:36 Looking good as usual. Where do you get those really useful looking ring stakes?
Comment by Fred Hogg on April 17, 2012 at 1:35 Investigated the Osmocote, looks good stuff. Dan, uses a slow release fertilizer in his potions, but, going by my Robinsons Bible of veg. growing, they do not recommend feeding onions during growth, as it causes thick necks and poor keeping qualities, if you wish to give them a feed, nitrate of soda, 1 teaspoon to 4.5 litres of water. Don't know???, you read one thing and then something else says the complete opposite....
Comment by Fred Hogg on April 17, 2012 at 1:58 Debbie... the rings are £8.95 for 100 from swiftbuys (ebay) the stakes-pea sticks, simples......
Comment by Darren Blick on April 17, 2012 at 6:03 Wish I knew that before.
