Linda Pankhurst replied to Plantaliscious's discussion Planting potatoes through sheet mulch?
"I did them under plastic when I took on my first plot and didn't have time to dig the whole plot properly in tme for spud planting. It was impossible to get enough water to the spuds and the harvest was poor. Also, as previously stated, slugs…"

"I have just searched and searched but cannot find which variety I sowed. Sorry! The bed is 13ft x 2ft. It has two rows of plants. I started them off in pots in 2006, and planted them into the bed late that year after a bean crop that were in the bed…"

Linda Pankhurst replied to Debi Williamson's discussion This year I want to learn about ....
"I grew them in big pots and when ready to plant them out I had none of that trenching business because they weren't so huge. I just planted the pot contents at the right spacing, trusting that the plant knew how deep it wanted to be. They…"

"I did it! I started the plants from seed. It isn't difficult. You just have to leave them a year longer before picking than if you buy crowns."
