I'm growing Alderman peas up a wigwam of canes - do I need to put netting or string around the canes for the peas to scramble up or will they climb up the canes by themselves?Continue

Will an old towel do instead of capillary matting?

I'm thinking about what to do with my indoor herbs etc when we go on holiday.  I'm going to rig up a drip watering system from the water butts for the outside pots, but I can never get basil etc to do well outdoors.  Will an old towel work instead of capillary matting if I fill the sink with water and put the plants on top of the towel on the draining board?  I'm sending my young tomato plants to stay with my mother in law, but I don't want to overdo it by filling her house if I can help it!See More
