"Thanks Colin - I didn't know about the link with Steiner. When I researched online I couldn't find any large scale studies on this, although one article put forward a relationship between the moon and weather patterns."

"Aside from the fact that there is not one single scientific study in its favour a simple Google search invariably links it with it astrology. Add to that the fact that biodynamic theory was developed from the ideas of Rudolph Steiner, a German…"

A new milestone at the allotment! I'm celebrating the realisation that for the first time in 6 years I've managed to put my whole allotment plot into productive use. However I'm not celebrating too much, as I think like many other people, the amount of fruit and vegetables actually ready for eating is not much at all! So I should not spend too long simply enjoying listening to my watering can radio ...Read…See More

Blackcurrants feeling a little green

It's been a very busy weekend at the allotment. Earthing up potatoes, weeding between onions / garlic and putting nets over the fruit were the more production tasks. But the rain is just making everything grow, and seemingly fastest of all, the weeds. But the weather seems to have its biggest impact on the blackcurrants ...read more…See More

"I space mine much closer than that and harvest alternate ones as spring greens.  This is because I have a limited space and have to cram in as much as possible. I've also been feeding them on diluted urine this year which has really…"

A new Attraction

I recently planted out my cabbage seedlings at the allotment and I've been watering them frequently ever since due to the lovely hot weather and my fast drying sanding soil. But this year I've chosen a new variety that I hope will not look out of place when compared to my allotment neighbours ...Read more…See More

The tingling anticipation for gooseberries

It's one of my favourite times of year at the allotment. It's time to throw my nets over the gooseberries bushes and cheer them on to harverst.  The risk of frost is finally over, the bushes seem in wonderful health and underneath their branches I can see their delicious mouth twisting fruit dangling like green tear drops.Read more…See More

Dandelion Summer

This summer I think I have managed to grow grass better than anything else at the allotment. Everything seems to be behind, apart from my ex-seedlings stranded on the kitchen window sill. At least the dandelions are putting on a splendid show ...read more…See More
