Helen replied to Danny McGrath's discussion Too late for onions?
"I have planted onion sets in module trays before now and then transplanted them in the spring - gives them a good head start but I dont see why you cant plant them out if the ground is OK"

Beneficial/bothersome bugs & critturs

There's many insects, amphibians and reptiles which will help out in the garden or on the plot in exchange for a bit of shelter - and others that just plain take advantage! Post photo's of the good, the bad and the ugly.

About Me

I live in Malvern in Worcestershire. I have lived here since 2000, having moved from Berkshire. I have two strapping sons (18 & 19) and am a single Mum. Luckily my eldest is quite happy to help me out with the tough jobs which is lucky as I have just taken on a new allotment. It is really a new allotment - at present it is only roughly ploughed. Its 125sqm and I am feeling very daunted but excited at the moment. I have a plan (well sort of) and am going to try and do it bit by bit. However, I havent really grown veg before so I am on a vertical learning curve and will need all the help I can get!

Don't be daunted by it but enjoy! Doing it bit by bit is very sensible, and I'm sure that you can't wait for spring to come so that you can start planting and sowing.
Happy growing!
