Cut of the flower (which you can use for cooking and are known as Scapes) and give the garlic a good mulch and water well.
Then leave it to bulb up a bit more!"

Patrick Wiebe replied to Gill Blease's discussion Veg in the shade"You can tell by looking at the leaves. Plants with (relatively) large leaves will probably tolerate some shade, but the smaller leaved plants probably won't. All fruit and veg need some sun! Nothing will grow in complete shade."
