With the recent sunny spells the above has started another growth boost, we had 4 hours of good sunshine again this morning until 11.30, when the heavens opened. Gave the baccy a high nitrogen feed, and the Congo potatoes a good dose of potash, and even managed to hoe most of the plot. Pulled a purple caulie, a clump of hative d'niort shallots and 2 red duke of york potato plants, the latter gave a really good crop. Kelsaes and Giant red onions are now starting to bulk up and look quite…

The farm is set out in quaters, with paths in a + , so have been edging the beds with scaffold boards, yesterday (sunday) clocked in, on site at 6am and interred more boardand weeded. We have a newbie opposite to my plot, who has taken on a weed infested, not overgrown plot, but over the last couple of weeks she has not made much headway in clearing it. Fred are you growing anything as lowly as butternut squash in your massive empire??? I could do with a bit of advice...have got 5 humungous (probably spellt wrong lol!!) plants blocking the light on my windowsills (there are grumblings from his nibs cos EVERY windowsill has something on it and closing curtains of an evening is becoming 'difficult') well not actually blocking but they are definately hale and hearty, I have a spot cordononed off by chicken wire (so the ancient and immortal cats left by son when he moved into his own house....cant poo in it, (god I live a sexy life!!) that was manured a few months ago and I know they need a metre square-ish each, might just squidge 'em up a bit lol...anyway I was thinking of putting them out and putting some of those plastic storage boxes over 'em to keep the frost off....AM I ABOUT TO KILL THEM??do they need it to be boiling hot or something?? didnt do too much research on squash...you know when you just pick a packet up for no particualr reason?? ok maybe not you....thanks
