Greenfingers Rosy Cheeks Appeal

Greenfingers is a small national charity which creates magical gardens for children's hospices. They have recently launched the Rosy Cheeks Appeal that aims to raise £750,000 over the next two years to build at least ten new gardens around the country.  Donating to, and supporting, any charity is a very personal choice so all I ask is that you watch this film.  Thanks, Flighty. See More

"How close is too close?  You may find that you don't get many weeds, and I wouldn't use matting.  I hand weed round my onions, which are about 4/5 inches apart, every few weeks or so then hoe the rows.  "

"Jade I would avoid old carpet as it's generally synthetic and if it starts to degrade then break up it won't do your plot much good.  If you do cover any ground use plastic sheeting and/or cardboard held down with some bricks. A lot…"

A very wet allotment

Posted on April 28, 2012 at 11:28 5 Comments

I've just been for a quick look round the allotment in the rain as I've not been there since Monday. Not surprisingly it's all looking rather bedraggled but lush.

Thanks for birthday message! Have had good day: made apple, pear and ginger conserve (had one message from a friend calling it bear and ginger which I liked!), made a cushion cover, picked loads of raspberries and went out with OH for a meal. Highly productive and just not thinking about the huge list of garden jobs until tomorrow.
