"Dockens and horses go together like eggs and bacon. If you rotavate and chop the roots up, each root will become a new plant. You can try smothering them with cardboard and using the Alys approach - or spray them off with either Glyphosate - or…"

"Yeh think I might do that. Thought about making it into raised beds, putting double layers of cardboard down and then a mixture of soil / compost so I don't have to rotavate again. I won't be beaten! "

How to deal with dock leaves

Hi,We recently got hold of a bit of waste ground that's probably been left for 10/15 years - prior to that it used to have horses in it.When we started rotating there were a few dock leaves, now there thousands! and they're a real pain to keep on top of. What would you suggest to try to control them? I thought of trying putting cardboard down, then new soil / manure as Alys Fowler suggests in her great book. Is this the best method or has anyone else got a good solution?Cheers,DarrenSee More
