Starting to thin out the smaller parsnips from the bed!

Good weight but bit ropey mate

Next time, try washing with a soft cloth in a spiral motion (not up and down as you will scratch it to bits)

You need to take all the hairs off also

Was this grown in the soil or your drum, if your drum, what medium did you grow it in?

Also, what variety is it?

If you are at the next Hampshire DA meeting, I will run through how I grew mine, or you can check it out on my blog

I should have said, if you have produced that from the ground, that is one hell of an achievement especially as it is so straight.

This one was unwashed and has just been eaten! I grew this one in a raised bed but will be using the drums next year. It was a Robinson cultivar. I think I'll try Gladiator and/or Pinnacle in 2012 as they seem to be the ones that work best!

Well if this was unwashed and out of a bed, then that is a great achievement

Just think what you could do with a drum

When cleaned, this should be more than enough to win a local show, unless anyone else is using drums

I assumed as it was on the board that it was at final stage

Just one hint, don't use the board unless the item fits on it

Just stick it on the bench otherwise

Yeah, just put this on the board so take the pic. I've got a longer one (living in hope!). In the drums IU'm going to try for New Red Intermediate, Gladiator & Pinnacle Parsnip, plus long beetroot. I'll probably do Sweet Candle in the raised bed as thats a depth of about 750mm and I'll bore the holes with a 4" pipe. Off to Fargro in the morning to collect pots, F2S and other stuff!!!

Wow, you are starting early

Where is Fargro's?

I find the website not very good and I also find them expensive

I tend to use LBS where possible as they are a lot cheaper than Fargro's

They are down in LIttlehampton. I've used LBS before but found that if you are OK to collect, then Fargro is much cheaper (they are one of LBS's suppliers). My business goes absolutely manic as soon as September is here so I'm using August to do a  few things in the garden and allotment. In another life, I'm a Landrover nut so will take that down and load it up!!
