Has anyone dared to switch from Word Verification/Comment Moderation to Blogger's spam catcher yet? What's been your experience so far?

Hiya - I don't use Blogger so I can't help unfortunately. I use Wordpress which has a spam catcher called Akismet. It's amazing. I can count on one hand the amount of spam comments I have had to remove manually in five years!

I'm on Wordpress too , and also use the Akismet spam filter - works very well indeed, catches virtually all spam.

I have both Blogger and WP blogs - the new Blogger spam catcher is very similar to Akismet. However, my experience with Akismet hasn't been as good as yours. Before the new Blogger spam catcher I regularly had quite a bit of spam get through Akismet but much less when using the word verification (WV) option on Blogger. The problem with WV of course is that it adds an extra step for people wanting to leave a comment, whereas Akismet and the new Blogger spam filter gives the extra work to the blog owner.

I have a WP blog with Akismet. At the beginning Aksimet didn't work very well, it let through lots of spam and sometimes deleted real comments. Now it's a lot better. If you haven't used it in the past year, you should certainly give it another try.

For a while I used something called Trencaspammers that does the same thing as WV on blogger, and it too worked well and as you would expect. Akismet now works as well and doesn't require the users to type extra anything in.

Hello, I am new here.  But have been blogging about life, our lottie, kids etc for some time.  I love My Tiny Plot's blog and also Carrots & Kids... great insight into allotments and a growing family. Lou
