there is a wide range of the scale of gardening in schools, some schools really embrace it, and yet there are others that just do it to get a bit of extra funding!!!  Perhaps it should be brought into schools asa compulsary subject, lets face it it covers geography, science and home economics!!  If kids are taught how to respect nature then I believe they will grow up with not only a greater respect of the world around then but of themselves too!!

Next week I'll be supporting younger gardeners and their teachers at Fallin Primary School in Stirlingshire who are getting ready for their orchard planting day towards the end of the week.  It's -6 degrees Celsius today so wish us above zero to get the pits dug.

Hello! I've just started helping my daughters school with their mini-allotment, planters etc. So far I've helped the reception class sow some sunflowers, pumpkins, squash and beans. When the plants are a bit bigger, we'll plant them out. I'm a bit worried about what's going to happen over the summer holidays tho! I live near by and can water pretty often if the weather does get dry...Anyone got any tips for keeping school gardens going over the summer? Thank you!
