Hi,

B&Q does a decent cheap version £1.98 a bag but usually on 5 for 4, I used them last year & everything grew really well.

In case anyone is interested I went onto the gardeners world website yesterday & for new subscriptions they are doing 3 issues for £1.  You can cancel after the 1st three issues with nothing further to pay, or continue for £16ish a month.

This month there are free sunflower & sweet pea seeds on the mag as well!!

Hi Caro,

Thanks for the seeds they arrived today, i'll let you know how they taste! Not worried that i won't like them, if i don't like the first bite then i tend to try cooking it as many different ways as possible till i do like it!

Thanks again

Andy

You're very welcome Andy.  I like your attitude - I first grew beetroot because, although I disliked the taste, everyone else said they liked it. Having grown it, I thought I'd try it in as many recipes as I could and now I love it, even keeping it in the fridge as snack food!

Have you ever tried chocolate & beetroot cake?  I'm growing beetroot this year especially to give it a go.

Yes, I have!  Zoe, it was the first proper recipe I attempted!  Can't go wrong with cake, I always think...  I was told it's very popular in Australia. The one I made definitely had undertones of beetroot but it's a wonderfully moist cake and I quite enjoyed it with a dollop of cream on the top!  Yum. Definitely worth baking!  (If you're interested, recipe can be found on my blog here (scroll down the page):

and let me know how you get on!
