I have a small Aubergine plant (received via post from Dobies). It was part of a gift set somebody arranged at Christmas. I wouldn't necessarily have gone for an Aubergine myself (although rest of the plugs are great) but am intrigued to have a go at growing it. Books are telling me it needs 25 deg C - 30 deg C which will be a struggle outside in London, therefore...
does anybody have any practical experience of Aubergines in a container either outside or in. i have the option of putting it in our conservatory depending on size of plant & aesthetics (to keep OH happy). Also what yield would I expect from one plant?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Richard

Permalink Reply by Zoe on May 11, 2011 at 8:57 Ok, an update.
Augergine plant is looking good if a bit smaller than expected, lots of pretty purple flowers but they seem to be dying off before growing any fruit.
As I've got this inside, do I need to be self pollinating the flowers?
Interestingly the plant reacts to cold instantaneously, which I've not seen before. Its definitely enjoying being inside but as of yet hasn't set fruit.
Thanks for any thoughts/ideas.
