Welcome to the Book Club

Sometimes it's good to put your feet up and have a damn good read. If it's a volume about any aspect of fruit or vegetable growing, produce cookery or applicable horticultural techniques, then we want to hear about it!

The Discussion Forum is a great way to gather information on a particular topic in one place, otherwise the Comments section is good for short, easy topics and for you to introduce yourselves.

If you're new to the Group, then welcome :) Do have a good look at what we've been up to and dive right in! If you're just having a nose around, we hope you like what you see and sign up immediately...

Just got my copy of River Cottage's latest book on fruit by mark Diacono. Really good down to earth advice, with recommendations on choosing plants, best way to grow them and recipes as well. I like the way its written, the odd quirky comment but generally just a really good working book that demystifies the whole topic and encourages people to have a go.

I've just reviewed Minding My Peas and Cucumbers by Kay Sexton over at my blog.

A good and amusing light read with some useful hints and tips to boot.

Lots of scrummy recipes - not just for apples!

Wasn't sure where to post this but I saw on the Book People website, they are selling the whole set of River Cottage books (in paperback) for £25.00. Would love to buy it myself but already have the bread and veg patch, both well worth the money.

Thanks for flagging that up Maggie- I saw that too, but already have the Fruit, Veg and Preserve books. I agree they're an excellent set.

Love books. Currently I'm working my way through a pile of 'Amateur Gardening' from the 1980's that a work colleague gave me - very interesting.
