Welcome to the Book Club

Sometimes it's good to put your feet up and have a damn good read. If it's a volume about any aspect of fruit or vegetable growing, produce cookery or applicable horticultural techniques, then we want to hear about it!

The Discussion Forum is a great way to gather information on a particular topic in one place, otherwise the Comments section is good for short, easy topics and for you to introduce yourselves.

If you're new to the Group, then welcome :) Do have a good look at what we've been up to and dive right in! If you're just having a nose around, we hope you like what you see and sign up immediately...

I love Percy Thrower - one of his books is my gardening bible.

Last year, with Autumn looming, I bought a copy of 'Decorating Pumpkins and Gourds' by an artist friend of mine because the carvings are so beautiful, unexpected and different. This year, the publishers have donated a copy to me which I'm giving away.

I love the Percy Thrower book I found in a charity shop. The old-style photos are a nice change from glossy coffee-table books of today. And he knows his stuff. BTW I'm giving away a pocket-sized copy of "Food for Free" on my blog at the moment.

I have now managed to read and review Trish's 'Grow Your Own for the Hungry Gap' book, so head over to http://is.gd/grBa8 if you'd like to know what I thought :)

My Flighty's plot blog post today is about five gardening books that I'm going to reread over the winter!

I am wondering what UK Gardeners think about Pauline Pears Bed System book. I remember it as being truly formative when I first started....

One of the books on my Christmas list is "Grow your own garden" by Carol Klein. It's on offer at M&S today only - here's the codes:

use code PERWEB05 to get this price it took off 95p so 20%
possible 15% off aswell using code PERWEB36 but this didnt work on my account.
free delivery is with code PERWEB02
the books already have 50% off
This means the book is about £6.50 compared to Amazon's £11.59. Worth having a look if you're interested in this book for Xmas. Also lots of other books on offer but runs out today.

Hi - I reviewed a great growing/kitchen garden hybrid last week. I know some of you have seen it already (e.g. Damo), but perhaps some others might like to pop over to see what I made of the Kitchen Garden Companion?
