Welcome to the Book Club

Sometimes it's good to put your feet up and have a damn good read. If it's a volume about any aspect of fruit or vegetable growing, produce cookery or applicable horticultural techniques, then we want to hear about it!

The book is essentially her gardening column in the Telegraph in book form. But my favourite gardening book is 'A Handful of Earth' by Barney Bardsley.

Comment by elaine rickett on April 6, 2011 at 22:19: That's funny - I read Terry Walton's book last week. I really enjoyed it and felt it gave some good down-to-earth advice plus nice recipes. He must have grown an awful lot of veg. to keep the whole village going. I'm lucky if I can keep just the two of us going on what I grow.

Comment by Trish le Gal on April 9, 2011 at 9:22: If any of you who are in London want to come along to the South London Botanical Institute on Monday 18th at 7pm I'll be talking to the Rosendale Allotment Association and on Tuesday 19th I'll be at the Quaker Centre on Euston Road 6-8pm. I tend not to get off my patch much so I'm trying to make the most of my couple of days in the 'big smoke'! It would be nice to connect face to face.

Comment by Debi Williamson on July 19, 2011 at 23:32: My parcel arrived today, firstly the 'passion for Plants' which is a lovely book and it was 1pence!!!! It was from one of those amazon second hand shop thingy's but its actually new!! I also got a copy of the RHS plant finder that has free 3 months membership of the rhs!!
