Hi all, does anyone else have this book?
It seemed like a good one judging from the Amazon reviews...and I am liking it so far. Has many tips but alas not all the fruit and veg I'm interested in.
It gives advice on what to grow throught the seasons and a sowing / harvesting calendar.
* FAVE TIPS *
Lettuce - 'cut and come again' method - by picking the outers leaves from each plant you lengthen the lifespan of the plants and encourage new leaves.
Strawberries - encourage bees into your polytunnel for pollunating plants such as the strawberry; growing flowers inside the tunnel is a good way of inviting them inside.
Slug Patrol! - some nights I can't sleep worrying about my little green ones being eaten by pests. This tip suggests going out at night with a torch, to Slug Patrol - to discover and remove these wickled little beasts!
Sowing plants for the hungry gap - gives a list of veg to grow during the 'quiet times'.
.......many more tips, just too much to list. Would love to hear what others think of this book :)
a very long wait for a response but I do have the book and I love it. I will regularly dip in and out for wee tips. I have also just found a site on youtube called Quickcrop and this guy is great for wee tips too.
