They flower when they are only 20cm tall and produce 3cm long fruits that are crispy but disappointingly small. How do I make them grow bigger and better? I can't water too much for they hate wet feet.
I grow them outdoor in a pot with multi-purpose compost mixed with chicken manure.

Permalink Reply by Flighty on May 29, 2012 at 17:36 You're welcome, and good luck. I have little success growing outside cucumbers, either from seed or plants, on my allotment but I'll be trying again next year.
Permalink Reply by Darren Blick on June 2, 2012 at 20:56 If they are producing small fruits it can be many things
If you have a lot of fruits on at once, then the goodness is shared between them, I tend to pinch some out to give me less but better quality
The other thing to look at would be if you have sufficient nutrients in the ground where they are planted and are you feeding them
I have plenty of manure under mine and I feed them with high nitrogen once fruits set in
Read up here how I have grown mine this year
thanks a lot Darren for the useful tips. I shall remove some of small fruits, there are a lot of them.
