UK Veg Gardeners

What's Santa bringing you this Christmas?

I need some inspirational stocking fillers for Christmas.  So what gardening related stuff is top of your wish list?  A pair of Felco No2 secateurs is as far as I've got...........

Felco No 2s, nice. I quite fancy one of those Victorian-style string lines for marking out the rows; they're probably no better, and obviously more expensive, than a plank or two bits of cane and a ball of string, but they look the business, and it's not something I would buy for myself.

I've found my wind-up/solar-powered radio a good companion these past few months while digging over my plot. It even has a built-in torch!
I'm hoping for a preserving pan so that I can get some jams made next year. I picked up a pair of Felcos at Wilkinson's with 75% off, got them for a tenner.
I seem to go through a lot of wellies so these are on the top of my list. I'm also hoping to get a few books I've had my eye on for quite some time (like Nigel Slater's Tender), and two big hanging baskets so that I can grow more tomatoes next year.
I'll have to check out Wilko's for some bargains.

You can't beat the old tried and tested tools, I like the string-line idea, and the slighty more up-to-date solar powered radio would be good to keep up with the scores in the afternoon.

I'm starting a list now!
My favourite designer is Angie Lewin and she's just released these cute Garden notebooks. So I'm hoping for one for Christmas :)

Another vote for a Solar powered radio, I rarely leave for the plot without it on a Saturday afternoon ;>) Mine's a good few years old now survived been dropped a few times, regularly covered in mud, etc. We also always take it camping with us.

Personally, I'd like a fruit press, but I might be pushing my luck there! So more realistically I fancy some new blackcurrant bushes and maybe another apple tree (yes I know!) and a plum tree.
Net. What else could you possibly want?
Hi Jo, Rach bought a Maslin pan off Amazon for around £30 which was a good deal.

Thanks, Damo, I'll take a look.
Nice organic 'smellies' because I never seem to buy these 'girly' things for myself! Also wellies, thermal socks, greenhouse panes, and there's a cricket jumper I'd love from People Tree. But it's rather expensive so many a contribution towards my 'cricket jumper' fund...
Just about anything from Sarah Raven, she has such style! One of those compost turning sticks looks like fun. A stainless steel dibber would be great to replace the old fork handle I am currently using. A copper trowel is supposed to be good for the soil. Sussex trugs look good for ladylike bunches of salad, cucumbers , lettuce and tomatoes(but nothing muddy). A pair of industrial strength kneelers that you strap to the knees would be blissful. Crabtree and Evelyn gardeners hand cream is a must. The Veg patch by mark Diacono at River cottage would fit in my pocket for garden reading(whoops-I just ordered that from Amazon-wonder if the dog would like to give me that for Christmas?)
