UK Veg Gardeners

Not really veg related I know, unless you do it on a bigger scale than most of us, but we had a cavalcade of about 500 vintage tractors through the village this afternoon. (we like tractors up here).

Brought back some memories as the first vehicle I ever drove on the road was a Fordson Major tractor back in 1965. It also made me think about how things have changed since then. Most of the tractors we have round here now are about two storeys high with air conditioned cabs, fully automatic gearboxes, stereo systems and heaven knows what else.

By heck, we were tough back in the old days ;)

Judging, by the flags in the top picture, you must be close to the border with Upper England....

I can't read and

I can't write

But That don't really matter

I've come down from Carlisle town

And I can drive a tractor

I can see across to the dark side from my upstairs windows. The Scots only come down in peaceful processions now.

I work for a bus company and have been brainwashed into liking large vehicles. LOVING your photos. Thanks

Where I live in North Yorkshire many locals take their vintage tractors out for a drive most sundays in spring and summer.

Here also but this is the first time I've seen 500 in one go!!

I passed my tractor driving proficiency whilst studying horticulture at Tameside college and it was one of the best times of my life. Driving tractors with my mates, racing, and muck spreading. Mint
