UK Veg Gardeners

THE ULTIMATE GARDENERS CHALLENGE..............?????

My first and last visit to Poundland prompted the purchase of the Poundland mushroom kit, a product that has inspired poetry on this site. I would now like to, throw down the gauntlet, to the likes of Stephen Shirley, Damo, Darren Blick, John Martin and Colin Robinson, to purchase one of these and see who can gain a worth while crop. Apparently it is easier to grow cactii in an Irish peat bog, and orchids in the arctic circle.....

Fred, I point blank refuse to take up the challenge. I'd rather chew my own arms off than have yet another go at growing mushrooms. Anyway, foraging for wild ones is one of the joys of country living.

Damn, I have to go into Carlisle on Wednesday and there's a Poundland in the town centre. I will resist, I will resist, I will........

You have been challenged pick up the gauntlet if you DARE....This is the ULTIMATE CHALLENGE.....

Well POUNDLAND is your first big clue

You only get what you pay for

As for the challenge, if I did manage to grow them, I'd eat them straight away, as I am a huge mushroom fan

Your allowed to eat them,              " if you get any to grow",                just take a photo.....

As far as quality is concerned, I normally buy my seeds from Kings, Robinsons and lately Victoriana, having spent my working life in engineering I know about quality......

Been there, done that, useless!

Nature provides the best wild mushrooms.  why bother with growing yourself?

Haha I saw those the other day and walked on by, even at a pound they looked like a waste of money.  I wish I had the knowledge to pick wild mushrooms safely, I'd be out foraging for them all the time!

Surely not Poundland snobs? More for us, Samantha Smith tee hee hee hee hee

Don't give up on Poundland. I bought a panettone from 99p store yesterday and made a panettone bread and butter pudding. What with eggs from my hens it made a delicious pudding for 6 plus enough left over to make another pudding all for under £2. A bit out of season, but never mind!

Started it off tonight Thurs. 12 / 4...Don't know whether started is the correct word to use....Time will tell.....

As Darren said "get what you paid for" (of course I always ensure my comments are impartial).

Mushroom kit wise I have had great success and also great failure. Freshness of the spawn is the key.

Do Victoriana supply mushroom kits ?
