Anyone got any suggestions, please, on uses for an old wrought iron 3ft square garden gate which has reached the end of it's gate life but must have some usefulness left?

Use it on the allotment!  Possibly stand it behind the table and chairs, or adjoining the shed, and grow a climber up it.

Any use as the grill in a home made barbecue?

A bit big and heavy for that Stephen, and the struts (or whatever you call them) are a bit far apart, but a nice idea.

Not if you cook Jumbo sausages!!

Use it at the back of a trough for climbers.
I have two of these that I set up like an A frame and use to grow peas up.  Have also used along the fence to grow sweet peas.
