UK Veg Gardeners

So my darlings what NEW seeds are you trying this year?!

We aren't trying any new seeds this year (boo hoo - Andrew is in charge you see) But I was hoping to life vicariously through some other people's adventures with the weird and wonderful. So if you are trying something exotic or even just new to you, please, do share :)

I am trying some Patty Pan Pumpkins.  They are bright yellow, with frilly edges and look a little like space ships, but about 3 inches across.

Every year I attempt to grow cucumbers outside without success!

This year I'm trying  Cucumber Crystal Lemon

I'm also trying these Elaine, along with some Chocolate Cherry Tomatoes and Gherkins (Bimbostar) - and who wouldn't want to try something with that name ;>)

Not sure if it counts, but I'm also growing about 8 different Dahlias and 3 different varieties of Gladioli!

I'm going to give Mango Ginger a go (part of Garden Organic's seed trials).  I've also got some Lemongrass seedlings on the windowsill.  Maybe a little too exotic for a polytunnel in Scotland, but here's hoping (it was over 80 degrees in there today).
Golden beetroot and Bambino carrots and some competition length runner beans. Fingers crossed!
This will the first year that I am growing broad beans, after discovering last summer that I actually liked them.
Lots of different types of dwarf french beans and heritage climbing beans, unusual squashes from the seed swop, purple carrots and caraway.
The smaller Ridge cue's do well outside, you can train them up a hazel tepee, they are a bit spiky on the outside but delicious.

Salsola, Hamburg Parsley and Raab for me. And striped mini aubergines (Calliope). Ever the optimist.
I grew crystal lemon last year in the greenhouse. They gave a very good crop but a bit of a novelty so I'm sticking with 'traditional' long green ones this year.
