UK Veg Gardeners

A friend gave me a 4' long cane from his garden in May which I planted in a tub with ericaceous soil.  It started fruiting the same year, in mid August and I'm still harvesting in September. There are also five new canes (no fruit) which are about 7' long now.  Half the leaves are turning yellow.  I have no idea if this is a autumn or summer fruiting cane.  Anyone?  Should I cut all canes to the ground or wait and see?

I'd wait and see! I'm always confused about what to do with my raspberry canes as I have a mix of unknown varieties so I only cut back any obviously dead stems and tidy them up.

Thank you for your advice Flighty. I shall follow your example and do the same with mine. The webpage is useful, I shall save it as a favourite. I'm planning on growing more raspberries next year.
