RABBITS!!!

RABBITS We've been free of these pests for years, then OF remarked we had'nt seen them for yonks-and of course now we're plagued with them-peas gone, lettuce ditto, just about every green leaf gone-they even got into the greenhouse and ate the chilli leaves! OF shot 5 of them but being rabbits, they've made up the deficit-my garden looks like a stalag wire and mesh everywhere and they still manage to chomp off the pea stems and tendrils that poke out of my defences-what else can I do? HELP!!!

There is a product on the market called grazers which you apply to your crops as a deterrent, doesn't affect the edible crops. haven't tried it-yet. Discovered that rabbits don't eat carrots on my allotment, but dig up potatoes and parsnips.

I guess the only option is a new fence with the wire turned back and dug in at the bottom to make it rabbit proof. Then you shoot all the little bu***rs inside the fence.

We've had rabbits in the garden for the first time this year as well - but our cats seem to be doing a good job encouraging them stay out.

We don't have cats but OF has shot some, bu the rest are now more wary-they have started nipping off the shoots, tendrils and flowers and leaving them on the ground-aargh!!

Afraid we can't affoed to refence the garden-we did it 12 years ago and it cost 1500 pounds then!

Thanks for the tip on grazers Jan, I've looked it up and there's one supplier here in Norn Iron, and it retails around 12 quid-rabbits-get ready to rumble!

Crikey, WABBITS!! Sounds as though you have the answer, just have to stay up all night with a lamp, which is darned incovenient to say the least. I thought I had problems with slugs. Good luck.

Thanks all for your suggestions, I don't think the water blaster would work, we have very big garden and given the torrential rain we've been having, it didn't bother the bunnies one little bit!

We've managed to get the pesky critters down to 2 (for now!) But can't seem to catch them-just ahve to cover everything possible, the sweet corn has been nibbled back to the stalks, so put out a plea for lemonade bottles and now have a load of them covering up the corn, hope it's not too late
