I've not been to one but I'm told that they are well worth a visit. I know folks who go for advice, to buy unusual varieties and always enjoy themselves.
Even if you go just for a look round you'll have probably not wasted your time as you're unlikely to be working on your plot at that time of year!
I try and go to Ryton Organic's potato day-great for seeing something different and you can buy individual seed potatoes or sackfuls. You usually get to taste a few too-always a pleasure!
They're great - a gardeny thing to do right in the middle of winter. What's not to like? Here's my report of my local potato day last year to give you a flavour of what happens:

I'll be going to my first one in early February, why not might pick up some useful tips.

Just realised that ones up the road from me, I'll be there!

I have never heard of these but shall see if I can find any more local to me!

Thanks for the tip!

Hi Bob

There is one near me which I believe is the same one Damo is going to (after I coaxed him into going)

It is at Whitchurch is Hampshire

The NVS Southern Branch, Hampshire District Association have a stall there also which I will be assisting on

It is quite a big event and very interesting

Hundreds of different varieties of potatoes as well as other things to see

hi darren

the whitchurch event is the one i will be attending, see you there,

regards bob

Hi - I heard about the Whichurch potato day last year at the Malmesbury one. The organiser and Taffy Tatty said it's one of the best. It's a bit far from Chippenham, but I might try and get there as I hear my beloved Harlequin variety has been available there.

The spuds are good and there will be a lot to choose from but they are not bona fide Scottish seed which is considered the best
