Permalink Reply by Darren Blick on January 8, 2011 at 19:43 You can plant winter onion and Garlic any time from October
I planted mine in October and my Garlic has only just sprouted
They do benefit from a good frost but they will come up when ready
Don't forget, you can still plant them in January

I have had some huge ones in the past and it is not overly strong tasting but looks impressive in the ground
Permalink Reply by Stephen Shirley on January 9, 2011 at 20:05 We usually expect to see our garlic up late November / early December from and October planting - this year nothing.
Checked it on Monday of this week and its sitting their perfect and firm -so patience is a virtue.
Despite having done nothing else all my life, it still makes me smile to that nature knows better than us all!
