My cordon apples haven't flowered...

...There are five of them, planted in January 2011. Tyhey flowered and some of them fruited last summer, but this year there hasn't been the faintest whiff of a flower. They were late coming into leaf, so I wonder if the cold weather in Spring meant that they just missed the boat this year? Any thoughts?

It's the weather, Bobby. I have nine assorted fruit trees and flowering/fruit set has been very erratic across the board this year. One apple didn't flower at all, one only flowered on the leeward side, one plum flowered but failed to set any fruit, the pear flowered, set fruit and then they promptly all dropped off!!

On the plus side it looks like a bumper crop of cherries again!!

All we can do is hope for better things next year.

The leafs look normal? Pruning was correct? It is free from pests? The nutrient level is ok? Teher is a few possibilities why not  and if everything is ok blame weather. :)

Apples generally flower every other year so don't worry.
