Permalink Reply by elaine rickett on December 23, 2011 at 16:44 I'll second that.
Permalink Reply by Colin Robinson on December 23, 2011 at 17:33 Merry Christmas to you, Elaine.
It won't be long now, the days are already lengthening (he said optimistically)
Permalink Reply by elaine rickett on December 23, 2011 at 19:30 About time too can't be doing with winter - I always think oh it will be nice to have a rest for a few months - but after a couple of weeks I get fed up. There's plenty of time for rest when you're six feet under - what do you say!
Permalink Reply by Colin Robinson on December 23, 2011 at 20:24 A couple of weeks!!
I get fed up of sitting round doing nowt after the Christmas dinner. Even though there's not much I can do at this time of year I still like to wander round the garden and look at things. There are plans and schemes worming their way around my brain all the time and I have a few jobs that need finishing as soon as there's a hint of mild weather.

Permalink Reply by The Garden Smallholder on December 26, 2011 at 15:46 I hope everyone is enjoying their Christmas xx I spent a bit of time at the allotment and doing some work in my garden at home. Felt good!
Permalink Reply by elaine rickett on December 26, 2011 at 20:09 This morning got up late after a 'blow out' kind of a day yesterday, and as it was reasonably mild, decided to do a bit outside, watered the greenhouse lightly, cleared leaves that had blown behind pots - just light stuff, but it felt to be doing a bit after many weeks of virtual non-activity.

Sorry I have been missing from the site for the past few months, but as we have been working on a re-design of our website since August (and keep on adding more and more ideas so launch date continues to extend) I have to say that I've 'had enough' of computers when I've been finishing for the day!
At home for the Christmas / New Year period but obviously popping up to the nursery every day just to check round; this mild weather is mad and I spent four hours watering (under glass / polytunnels) yesterday - but things are easier than this time last year when we were battling with snow!
Permalink Reply by Catherine on December 29, 2011 at 22:57 Hope ye all had a good Christmas and will have a prosperous and peaceful New Year :)
I walk down the garden every day to at least say I got outside. Our lawn is like a bog and I could nearly cut turf from it :) Only for the tunnel I would be up to my "oxters" in mud.
I have broad beans that I had to tie up to stakes today and my little pea seedlings are 2 to 3 inches tall. So I will have to refresh a bed to put them in soon! I had my own mixed lettuce for my prawn cocktail on Christmas day and more Arctic King in dormancy in the old hothouse, waiting to burst into further growth at the first signs of Spring!
Happy 2012 growing!
Catherine.
