This is to apologise for my virtual absence during the past few months. As administrator here I have stopped by every day to approve new members and photos.
There are now just over 900 members, and it's good to see that some who have recently joined have started forum discussions, done blog posts and added photos.
I'm sure that everyone is looking forward to spring when we will all be spending as much time on the allotment or in the garden as we can.
Happy gardening!

Permalink Reply by Samantha Smith on February 19, 2012 at 9:22 Well said Colin and as a new member this year, I totally agree with you. Joining UK Veg Gardeners has given me the encouragement to start my own blog site samsallotment.wordpress.com but when i switch the computer on each morning it's always UK Veg that I check first because I look forward to reading your's and everyone else's comments. Not everyone in my household understands what I am getting from blogging about growing veg, but I know that this is the most interesting and stimulating hobby that I have undertook for a very long time. And more than that really, as it's not just a hobby, I am a complete addict to growing veg from seed and it's what I think about most of the time. Happy growing everyone.
Permalink Reply by Flighty on February 20, 2012 at 20:21 Colin as you say brilliant, and it's been a very consistent growth. I agree with you as thankfully there's been no real problems or trouble. My thanks to you for being one of the more active members and a regular contributor.
Samantha hello and welcome to UK Veg Gardeners! Good for you starting a blog. I've blogged for years and my main one Flighty's plot I started when I took my allotment on back in 2007. I do the same and have to agree with you! I've bookmarked your blog samsallotment and will stop by later for a read. Thanks, and happy gardening.
Permalink Reply by Debbie on February 20, 2012 at 20:46 900 of us to keep in line? Crikey, Flighty, you've got your work cut out HA HA. I've met some lovely people here on the forum and learnt some stuff too. It's the most interesting place and I really couldn't do without it. Who else would I 'talk veg' too and not get sniffed at??
Permalink Reply by Flighty on February 20, 2012 at 20:58 Debbie yes but considerably fewer active members, and thankfully you've all been extremely well behaved so far! It's always appreciated when I read comments like that. As another of the more active members and regular contributor I'd like to say thanks to you as well!

Permalink Reply by Sue Gollop on February 20, 2012 at 23:57 Too right-even if we don't write in, we are watching and reading. Just can't wait now to get really started on the allotment. But watching my sweetpeas in my little plastic shelter (they seem to have survived the seriously low temperatures at the start of the month) and now my potatoes quietly chitting away on the window sill. At last I have a house with wide sills-should be a point to note in every estate agents' write-up: 'this house will suit a veg and flower grower with its ample sills in every room'

Permalink Reply by Flighty on February 22, 2012 at 9:58 Sue my parents house had wide sills which my mother, a passionate gardener, filled with pots, trays and vases!

Permalink Reply by elaine rickett on February 24, 2012 at 19:58 Having looked at a few other gardening sites and forums - in my opinion this is one of the best - and although I don't post as often as I did at the beginning - I still enjoy reading what everyone has to say and picking up tips and info. Long may it reign.
Permalink Reply by Flighty on February 24, 2012 at 20:20 Elaine I agree, and thanks for being another active member and regular contributor.
Permalink Reply by Catherine on May 11, 2012 at 9:47 I really like UKVG...I am a member of a few other garden sites, but a lot of them are mostly flower lovers. Here is an exclusive club for veggie gardeners, which I am passionate about. I garden every day,as I have a tunnel to go into if it rains. Thanks to ALL for your friendship here too.
Permalink Reply by Flighty on May 11, 2012 at 18:04 Catherine that's nice to know. I think that the difference is not such so much that here is nearly all about vegetables but that we mostly stay on plot so to speak whereas other forums often seem to be off plot for much of the time.
It is friendly here, and thankfully you've all been very well behaved so far.
I love flowers, and even started the Flower power - UK Veg Gardeners group!
