Hello all,
My 1st post..........
First of all. I hope you all have a very successful growing season. I live in hope of long warm sunny days with it raining only between the hous of 11pm and 6am. I can dream can't I?
Myself, I am into year 2 for our allotment; must get the ground in a fit state but it is a difficult task, considering we cleared it of Blackthorn & Brambles late 2009; still the brambles return to haunt us, plus too much clay! This year we will be growing Potatoes through straw in a 2' high chicken wire enclosed bed. Plus of course a range of veg from Beet to Brssicas various, to Chard to Peas to Tomatos to Sweetcorn etc all of which are germinating nicely in my back garden G/house. This Sunday we will be sowing our 1st seeds; Parsnip sown direct from saved seed of a heritage variety which I can't recall the name of. (it tastes good though) I am informed Parsnip are notoriuosly difficult from saved seed so we will be putting in a row of Gladiator just in case.
I know that potatos do not like lime, but I do not know which other veg dislike lime.
What other veg do not like lime?
Your wisdom here would be appreciated

Permalink Reply by Darren Blick on March 18, 2011 at 19:56 The main veg to only like lime is Brassica's
However, aim to get your soil at 7.oph and you'll be fine with most things
I'm sure you already now but add lime to in Alkaline (increase ph) and Manure to add Acid (reduce ph)
Thanks Gents,
Very much appreciate your help.
