So who carved a lantern with their home-grown pumpkins?
This is what my husband did to our pumpkin - a Storm Trooper!

Too scary for Jackson surely?!
That looks great, the best pumpkin lantern I've seen in a while!
Did you see the pumpkin carving bloke on Countryfile last night? No idea how he did the faces. My eldest came home with his mates and 4 enormous pumpkins all for £10 from the Farm shop down the road - guess they are harder to sell after 31st! So we had 8 kids with knives in the kitchen but no dashes to A & E needed and they carved some brilliant faces. Now have enough pumpkin seed to cover the South Downs with pumpkin plants next autumn (happy to share but no idea what variety!) and it will be pumpkin soup on bonfire night for sure.
I grew Baby bear pumpkins this year so not a lot of scope for carving! So I turned them on their sides and kept the stalks as noses, with eyes and mouth above and below, the seeds looked effective as vomit spewing from the mouths-well it is hallowe'en ! I kept some seeds , washed and dried them, then mixed with a little veg oil, salt and paprika, roasted for 10 mins in a hot oven to make a crunchy snack-nothing is allowed to get wasted when I have gone to the effort of growing it! Looking forward to lots more scary pix.
That's good, and rather different!
I didn't grow any pumpkins this year but last year I grew Hooligans which are a tiny pumpkin and those got carved. They were quite cute. Your pumpkin looks fab.
I can't compete with this carving but my parents grew these for the kids and carved their names on them as they were growing so that they grew into the skin:

What a brilliant idea, see where you get your gardening genes from!
