To both Catherine and Debbie

They are both fantastic crops so early

Maybe I should be coming to you two for my advice on spuds

L O L ...Darren....We just hope our first 2 rows outside have not been hit with blight, we sprayed them about 2 weeks ago when there was an alert, but they look as if they have spots!!!!!!

If you are sure it is blight, cut it off as high up as you think is needed. If you have blight, it will travel down into the tubers but cutting it off, will save what you do have, rather than lose it totally
If you can save the majority of the stems, then you may be lucky to still have enough plant to keep growing

Thanks Darren. I have been cutting off any affected leaves that I see, some are down low and some up top..!

And today I dug up the first Charlotte's and can hardly wait to eat some tomorrow they look so fresh and creamy yum yum

Congrats Debbie, I bet you can't wait :)

Darren, here is a pic of my spud leaves, can you tell from this if it is blight or a virus?

Please, Darren..is this blight??

Catherine, are the potatoes growing in open ground or in some sort of container. It looks like it could be magnesium deficiency, more common in pot grown plants. There are also several potato mosaic viruses which can give a similar appearance.

With blight you will often find white fungal spots on the underside of the leaves.

They are outside. Colin.Would be delighted if it was not blight!!

I have looked under the leaves and cannot see any white spots.....Is this a good sign? Hubby gently forked under stalks today too and the little spuds look ok..!

Catherine if you look on Google images and compare your photo you'll see that it could be the beginnings of blight. If you remove the foliage you should still get a crop, but do take local advice before you take action just in case it's something less harmful.

Don't think it is what's wrong with ours now. Looked and checked fotos and not the same as our spots!
