UK Veg Gardeners

Was having a litle dig around tonight in my first planted maincrop rooster potatoes and just found to my delight a big fat tuber under the soil.around 2inch round and a smaller one.
i didnt want to interfere too much but looks as tho there growing very well
In another month may have some juicy spuds
1st time for me so exciting stuff lol

My others in the big bag are over meter tall now and iv had to prop them all up as they collapsed
Some are flowering now so looks as they might be soon too

Also my other 3 smaller bags with king edwards, carlingford, roosters also about 10inch tall or more
Just hope they all grow well
Anyone else had a dig yet on ther maincrops?

Thanks for reading dave

Congrats, David. Your crop seems to be doing well. Aren't we very impatient to see what's below ground..LOL!

I dug my tunnel spuds about 2 weeks ago and got these...

Thats very good what kind are they?
I was just havin a look not intending to dig up until july/august.il See

They are Red Roosters, leftovers from bought spuds that chitted. It's very hard not to rummage around in the soil..LOL!

Yea i. Know. How long did u have them in the ground? Thanks

I didn't take notice of the time, but I dug them before flowers appeared and their stalks were falling over anyway.

What supermarket ones? Any rough guess on wen u planted and how many plants gave u that great harvest?thanks d

Above is how they looked on the 12th Feb,2012.I was keeping the compost warm. I had 2 rows in this bed.

And below on the 26th March.

Probably 6 seed spuds in both rows.
